Is this Heaven? No, it’s Iowa. A place of fertile soil, traditional values and simple pleasure. And in Dyersville, Iowa, at the century-old Lansing family farm with its quaint, and oh so recognizable house, baseball still ranks as a favorite pastime for all ages. What better place to carve a baseball diamond from a corn field and to make a movie about pursuing one’s dream, no matter how much effort it takes?

Field of Dreams, released in 1989, is a movie that has inspired millions and became an Academy Award nominee for “Best Picture of the Year.” Welcome to this home, this farm, this baseball field, this little piece of heaven on earth. Welcome to this place where reality mixes with fantasy and dreams can come true.

An hour and 50 minutes into my 2 hour drive to see the Field of Dreams, I realize that there will not be any corn field backing up the baseball field... Ugh! If you have to visit and can plan ahead come during the corn season. Oh well, it was a long drive from Madison to get here but it was fun to check off the list. There really is not much else to see out here. It's a baseball field.

It was a surreal experience to say the least. The love of baseball runs in my family and being able to play catch with my two boys on the field was an amazing experience for us. There is a place to buy souvenirs also and that was a good feature. One word of caution though, if you are going to go to the field be sure to bring plenty of bug spray. Lol.

What an amazing place to see. Not a baseball fan but I do love this movie. We paid admission to the interior of the house and got a guided tour which provided lots of back stories on the production and the property. It is cool that the field itself is free to go onto and there were lots of kids living out baseball fantasies when we went. Iowa has the most beautiful skies. Maybe it is heaven?

This place is magic. There was no team emerging from the corn during our visit in early fall, but I still got chills walking up to the field. I've wanted to visit since I was little. The grounds are kept immaculate, the volunteers/staff are helpful and friendly, and the house tour is worth it if you're a fan (I am). The folks who keep this place love it and it shows. No surprise here that people keep coming to see it. It's beautiful.

Depending on the time of the year, and certain days/dates there's special events, and ball games going on. My wife and I stopped in the fall they weren't offering tours at the time, but it was still cool to be able to walk around, take pictures, and play catch on the field. If you're in the area, enjoyed the movie or a baseball fan it's well worth the stop.
