The Dubuque Arboretum & Botanical Gardens have been a part of the Dubuque community since 1980. Quietly nestled on the city's northwest side and featuring more than 60 different types of gardens (including Rose, Hosta, English, Japanese, Herb, and more), the grounds continue to grow and expand every year.

Located in Marshall Park, the Dubuque Arboretum & Botanical Gardens is a living museum developed by volunteers. All volunteer-created and volunteer-maintained, their work is a labor of love for all who visit The Gardens as well as a symbol of devotion for the growing things of the earth.

Lovely gardens. I especially enjoyed the Japanese garden with its waterfall abs koi pond. My very young children were less enthused, except for the playground. But it's competent volunteer run and, therefore, free. For that, it truly is an amazing place.

For a free botanical garden the grounds were much nicer and expansive than I expected. Tons of coy fish in the pond, water features, perennials, themed gardens, annuals, and a visitors center with seating, snacks, library, and gifts. Nice for a couple hour visit.

The park is free. In Addition to some paths there are beautiful gardens. There are ponds with fish. And one of the best features is a park with ample seating, restrooms and shade which is the most lacking quality of the parks in Dubuque. Also there are concerts during the summer outside in this lovely, natural setting. This is one of the premier destinations for those who want to enjoy the beauty of nature in a quiet, peaceful setting. This is a place where mothers of small children can meet in safe surroundings to let the kids loose in places where they cannot stray too far. The playground is simple but adequate to keep the kids occupied for hours. Moms can sit close by on benches or at tables to commune with nature or visit. Grandparents will appreciate the proximity of things to parking.

Beautiful night listening to great music, enjoying time with my husband and seeing old friends and making new. What a great day.

Cool place. Lots of areas to visit. Wide variety. Lots of volunteer areas that were fun to visit. Will return.
