Join Us For A Celebration Of All Things Newton, Iowa: Arts, Food, Music, History, Red Pride & So Much More

Join us the second weekend in June at Newton Fest! Residents and visitors can celebrate everything that makes Newton such a great community to live in. Newton Fest returns with a weekend of special events and family-friendly activities. Festivities will include live music, free entertainment and family fun held throughout the town and hosted by the City of Newton, community organizations and local businesses.

Maytag Pool Newton Fest Special- Maytag Pool (301 S 11th Ave W; Newton, IA 50208)

Admission to Maytag Pool on Saturday, June 10 will be only $2! Learn more about Maytag Pool.

Newton YMCA 2023 Pickleball Tournament - Aurora Park (2111 1st Ave E; Newton, IA 50208)

$45 per team. Teams will be seeded based on performance in round robin play. All matches best two out of three. Medals will be given for participants placing 1st - 3rd place. Three competition divisions are: Open Doubles; Women's Doubles and Intermediate Doubles. More details and registration available on the Newton YMCA website.

8:30am & 1:00pm: Newton Alumni Association's Jack Chadwick Golf Tournament - Westwood Golf Course (3387 Hwy F48 W; Newton, IA 50208)

Shot gun starts at 8:30am and 1pm. Please call Westwood Golf Course at (641) 792-3087 to reserve your spot. Teams of four are $300...$75 per person paid on the day of the event. 9:00am: Gezellig Brewing Company Food Trucks - Legacy Plaza (403 W 4th St N; Newton, IA 50208)?

The Traveling Bean, Co., and Sticky Fingers will be at Legacy Plaza from 9 a.m.  - 3 p.m.
Hot Peppers Mexican Grill and Thumbs Up Tropical Snow will be set up from 12 - 8 p.m.

9:00am - 10:00am: Morning Yoga at the Bowl (FREE) - Maytag Park (301 S 11th Ave W; Newton, IA 50208)

Join us on Saturday, June 10th at 9 - 10 a.m. for a FREE yoga session led by Rachel Braafhart! The session will be held at Maytag Bowl. Open to all skill levels from curious beginners to advanced yogi. Bring your yoga mats.

9:00am: Newton Alumni Brunch & Newton High School Hall of Fame Induction - Newton High School (800 E 4th St S; Newton, IA 50208)

Cost for the brunch is $15 and can be purchased online, at the All Class Reunion or at the Brunch. Reservations preferred. Learn more here.

10:00am - 12:00pm: Iowa Brewery Running Series Run for Beer 5K - Gezellig Brewing Company ?(403 W 4th St N; Newton, IA 50208)

See you at Gezellig Brewing Company on Saturday, June 3rd. Fun run starts from the taproom at 10 AM. They've mapped out a 5k-ish course that starts and ends at Gezellig Brewing Company and weaves throughout the Legacy Plaza neighborhood of Newton. Run, walk, jog - whatever goes! 10:30am: Free Community Movie - Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory - Capitol II Theatre (116 1st St N; Newton, IA 50208)

Free Community Movie for all ages. Starting May 26th, pick up your free tickets in advance at Capitol II Theatre. Movie starts at 10:30 am. Doors Open 45 min before showtime. If needed due to popularity, a second theater will open up with a show time of 10:35 am. Sponsored by Bank Iowa. $4 Popcorn and Pop Special will be available.

Donuts NV of Central IA, Sweet Swirls Ice Cream, and Kikis will be at Maytag Park serving your favorites!

12:00pm - 2:00pm: Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Story & Spin Art Bikes - Maytag Park (301 S 11th Ave W; Newton, IA 50208)

Join the Iowa State University Extension & Outreach for a special event! They'll have a story and spin art machine attached to a bike! Take a quick spin and leave with a masterpiece!

12:00pm - 2:00pm: Safety Fest (FREE) - Maytag Park (301 S 11th Ave W; Newton, IA 50208)

The Newton Fire Department and Newton Police Department will be parked at the park with a fire truck, ambulance, police vehicle, and more! There will be fun activities and chances to meet police officers and firefighters.

12:00pm - 4:00pm: Fun Zone featuring Inflatables & Laser Tag (FREE) - Maytag Park (301 S 11th Ave W; Newton, IA 50208)?

The Newton Fest Fun Zone at Maytag Park ?will feature inflatables and laser tag can be enjoyed by residents of all age for free.

1:00pm - 2:00pm: Newton Fest Magic Show - The Magic and Illusions of Eric Michaels (FREE) - Maytag Bowl (301 S 11th Ave W; Newton, IA 50208)

We're excited to welcome Eric Michaels back to Newton Fest! Eric Michaels has been performing magic since he was a child. Starting with a little ring and a piece of string from his very first magic set, Eric began his journey into the magical world of mystery and excitement. Eric's show has developed into a one-of-a-kind class act that is jam packed with puzzling magic, audience participation, comedy, live animals, and his beautiful assistant! Come see what everyone is talking about, it's not just a magic show, it's an experience!

3:00pm: Newton Fest Dodgeball Tournament - Maytag Park Tennis Courts (301 S 11th Ave W; Newton, IA 50208)

This FREE dodgeball tournament is being organized by the City of Newton's Community Services Department. There are two separate age divisions; 12 - 17 and 18+. The tournament is a single elimination tournament. There are prizes in each age division for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place as well as "Best Dressed Team". Register online today.

7:00pm: Damon Dotson + Band in Concert (FREE) - Maytag Bowl (301 S 11th Ave W; Newton, IA 50208)

Damon Dotson is a singer/songwriter based out of Des Moines, IA and originally from Northwest Iowa. Dotson has released four original albums and played countless shows throughout the Midwest. He has opened for legendary performers like BB King, Willie Nelson, The Beach Boys, as well as modern artists like Matt Nathanson, Edwin McCain, and The Lone Bellow.

Those attending the free concerts are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets and are welcome to bring coolers to Maytag Park as they enjoy the free, live music.
